Information Wanted in the Murders of Andrew Chavez & Clotee Sefarino-Reyes


Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are asking for the public’s help with identifying the suspect(s) involved in a double murder in Lancaster. Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the city of Lancaster are offering a combined $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s). The incident occurred on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at about 1:30 AM on the 43000 block of 6th Street East in the city of Lancaster. Victims Andrew Chavez and Clotee Sefarino-Reyes were leaving a house after a large birthday party. There were approximately fifty people at the party ranging from 15-20 years of age. As the victims walked toward the street, a black four door sedan, possibly a Honda or Toyota, pulled alongside of them. The rear passenger inside the vehicle began firing a handgun. Both Andrew and Clotee were struck by gunfire while standing in front of the location and died at the scene. The suspects fled the scene in the black vehicle traveling northbound on 6th Street East and out of view. Lancaster Station Deputies quickly responded to the scene after receiving 911 phone calls of shots being fired. Several family members for each of the victims attended the press conference to ask the public for help. Andrew’s mother Ms. Shawna Donahue, said her son “loved bringing people up if they were down, and he had his whole life in front of him and now he’s gone.” Clotee’s grandmother, Ms. Renee White, shared that this double murder “changed the whole family” and all family members want to know why they were both killed. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives would like to remind the community that there were over fifty people who attended the party, however only approximately 10-15 of them came forward. Detectives believe people who attended the party have information about the suspects involved as well as the potential motivation for the shooting.
